EdemaWear is a tubular elastic compression stockinet that is made out of nylon and lycra. It is an open weave material so it remains cool.
How does it work?
EdemaWear provides compression using longitudinal ridges that run parallel to the limb. It provides a higher compression under the ridges and no compression between the ridges. This allows for effective blood circulation and efficient lymphatic drainage.
What is it used for?
- edema (swelling caused by fluid) from venous hypertension
- post-surgery edema
- lymphedema (swelling caused by lymphatic fluid)
- venous leg ulcer
- skin tears
What compression do they provide?
EdemaWear is available as:
- lite which provides 5 to 10 mmHg
- regular which provides 15 to 20 mmHg
How are they sized?
To choose the correct size you need to measure the circumference of the thickest part of the limb. The stockinet can be cut to fit the desired length (the material is designed not to unravel).
How are they applied?
- Roll stockinet up in your hands like you would if you were putting on a stocking
- Create a 3″ cuff to prevent the stockinette from rolling up/down the limb
Are they reusable?
Daily wear of EdemaWear is designed to last 4 to 6 months with proper care.
How do you care for EdemaWear?
- Hand wash in cold water
- Do not bleach
- Blood stains can be removed with hydrogen peroxide
- Hang to dry
What circumstances would EdemaWear be an alternative to compression stockings?
- Noncompliance with conventional compression stockings
- Lower compression needed
